Sumter Utilities, Inc. (a Quanta Services company) seeks Distribution A Class Linemen for long term expansion on the Duke Energy System in South Carolina. Successful candidates will possess existing Underground Distribution experience as a Journeyman Lineman or long-term experience as an Apprentice Lineman able to demonstrate readiness to grow into a greater role. Preference may be given to candidates who are able to bring along additional qualified candidates to form entire crews. Possession of a valid Class A CDL is PREFERRED. Those hired without a CDL may be required to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
oAble to perform rigorous physical labor as required. Including but not limited to digging, rigging, lifting, rescue operations, etc.
oAble to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
oPossess working knowledge of OSHA Shoring & Trenching Standards.
oProficient in all aspects of working with energized enclosures.
oPossess professional demeanor and interact in positive way with fellow crew members, general public and customer representatives.
oProficient in understanding and reading blueprints.
oAble to properly pull in UG conductors.
oCapable of leading crew in preparation/installation of pad mount transformers & enclosures, in absence of Crew Foreman or with minimal supervision.
oComprehensive knowledge of operations in terminating UG conductors & secondaries.
oCapable of executing live switching on UG loops.
oProficient at operation of Digger Derrick, Backhoe, Trencher, Mini-Excavator, Knuckle Crane, etc.
oProficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging.
oMust be familiar with induced voltage.
oProficient in grounding procedures.
oCapable of working in confined spaces.
oPosses knowledge to properly install, remove and inspect Rubber Goods / Cover Up / PPE.
oUnderstands how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
oUnderstands proper use of phasing sticks
oAble/willing to function within a Team environment and share knowledge with fellow crew members as appropriate.
oCapable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order.
oUnderstands minimum approach distance.
oUnderstands flag and tag procedures.
oCapable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
oMust be able to effectively lead a Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) meeting or tailgate briefing.
oCapable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers.
oAble/willing to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
oAble/willing to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
oAble/willing to lift in excess of 50 lbs, when required.
oAble/willing to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
oAble/willing to work Overtime, when required.
